Week Seven

Weekly Objectives:

After our initial meeting with Professor Jeong, it was necessary to produce a better prototype design that would better fit the design of the jacket. To do this, we will get the housing printed on a 3D that is capable of more accurately printing the housing, and in one print. Once this is done, we will meet with Professor Jeong again to talk about the specifics of our design and how it will be implemented into the jacket. After this, a majority of the building will be completed, and we will have to wait for Professor Jeong to finish the construction of the Jacket.

What was accomplished:

Unfortunately, we were not yet able to have the better looking housing printed yet, however, since the dimensions are going to be the same, we can still use the rough prototype for the fitting in the jacket. With this in mind, we met with Professor Jeong a second time, where we brought the physical rough design of the housing. In this meeting, we talked more specifically with Professor Jeong about how the channels will be fit on the jacket, and also about how the turbine housing will be fitted to the jacket.

We explained to Professor Jeong that we wanted to have two air channels that would be mounted to the shoulder of the jacket, and then wrap around the shoulder and then into the housing. For securing the housing to the jacket, Professor Jeong recommended using a stretchable fabric to make a pocket on the jacket so that the housing will be fit snugly to the jacket.

After finishing discussing the design of the jacket, we left the housing prototype with Professor Jeong, and he told us that he would work on it over the course of the week, and that we should meet up the following Tuesday to see the progress he had made and to clear up any questions or concerns that may have risen over the course of construction.
